I’m actually excited to see The Cure, especially since they postponed this show originally, it’s been a long time in the making. The Police at Wrigley didn’t do much for me last year, and STP should be a good show if Scott Weiland doesn’t cancel and get into too much trouble before then.

  2. Liz Says:

Even though it’s more for Elvis Costello than the Police, I am excited to see that show. I love Elvis Costello. I saw him open for Dylan a few months back and wished he had been the headliner.

  3. Zack Says:

I can’t wait to see the B-52’s at HOB! Their new album Funplex is a solid album and totally fun!

When the Kooks come back to play the Vic in June, you can bet I’ll be there.

The The Death Cab show at Pritzker this summer is a hot ticket - and if you have any of those hot tickets, I’ll be glad to them up from you before they set your jeans on fire. I missed out on the pre-sale.

  4. Amy Says:

I’m excited to catch Glenn Kotche, drummer for Wilco, at Ravinia this summer where he’ll be playing with the Kronos String Quartet. Should be a h-o-double t show! Grab your ticket now!

  5. Annie C Says:

The Police should be a great show, but I always look forward to the street fests and The 4th!

  6. Mihmsy Says:

I hate to admit it, but you all are much better versed than me in music. I really want to get out and see some shows this summer. What do you think are the top 5 for Chicago coming up? I’d really appreciate the help!

  7. scooter Says:

Any one know if the Allmans are touring this summer?

  8. Nikos Says:

I would really like to see the Cure - they’ve been a favorite of mine since highschool. That show would bring back some great memories!

  9. Johnny Says:

It doesn’t look like the Allmans have any dates set in Chicago this summer. They are mostly touring in New York.
Five shows I am most looking forward to this summer are:
    - Death Cab at Millennium Park
    - Swell Season at Chicago Theatre
    - Feist at Ravinia
    - Buddy Guy at Ravinia
    - Lollapalooza

  10. Maria Says:

The Police were awesome last summer, would love see them again this summer!

  11. Tom Says:

My five shows I’m looking forward to the most this summer are very similiar to the other guy:
Death Cab at Millenium, Lollapalooza, The Swell Season, Feist, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

  12. Christie Says:

Chicago and the Doobie Brothers - Northerly Island
Journey, Cheap Trick and Heart - Tinley
BB King with Ronnie Baker Brooks - HOB

  13. Dafoxman Says:

I have seen Costello a gazillion times, the first time in a college gym 1977 in Providence, RI, and he always puts on a good show. Wouldn’t be surprised if he stole The Police’s thunder. Just saw Freddy Jones Band last night at John Barleycorn in Schaumburg…a very nice room for a show. FJB was very tight musically and vocally, they really seemed like they were having a lot of fun playing, although at times the set seemed to wander. But well worth the price.

  14. Rose Says:

I am most looking forward to The Swell Season and Lollapalooza. The Tom Petty concert would be amazing…if only I had tickets.

  15. Jodie Says:

I will be going to the Elvis Costello/Police concert this Saturday, can’t wait! I saw the police last year at Wrigley and they rocked. But this time around I am really looking forward to seeing Elvis Costello. I have been reliving high school memories thinking about his songs, it makes me feel young again. And I am anxious as well to see the Police again, every little thing they do is magic!

  16. Mihmsy Says:

Thanks so much for the advice on the shows! I would absoultely love to see Petty and didn’t know he was coming to Chicago this summer! The Lollapalooza lineup looks fanatastic, too.

  17. Paolo Says:

There are plenty of great shows coming up this summer. I went to see the Police last night at Allstate and they sounded much better thatn the Wrigley shows last summer and even appeared to be having fun…but Elvis stole the show as usual. I saw him open for Dylan back in November and he was leagues better that crusty old Bob. Anyway, my 5 most anticipated shows:

    - Lollapalooza headliners Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails
    - Pitchfork Festival headliners Dinosaur Jr. and Public Enemy
    - Death Cab for Cutie at Millennium Park
    - Swell Season at Chicago Theatre
    - Stone Temple Pilots at Northerly Island

Also, Neil Diamond at the United Center (don’t hate; he is AWESOME! :-)

  18. Smokin' Says:

There are really so many good shows coming this summer…
I’m most anticipating seeing Rock on the Range in Ohio. STP’s first show since getting back together, plus 26 other bands.

  19. Kevin Says:

Stone Temple Pilots (Scott Weiland is a showman)
Dave Matthews Band (ALWAYS a great time)
Lollapalooza (Was suprised last year at how good it was and how well it was run)

  20. teri Says:

although i have a ticket for the cure, i wish i would be seeing the police and STP also (of course, scott has to stay out of trouble :)… oh, well…
The Cure was an amazing concert… 3 hours, the years melted away. OMG. $ very well spent. can’t wait for the new album.

  21. Doreen Says:

Would have loved to see the Cure, but just did not have the bucks. My husband and I are going to see Mark Knopfler at The Chicago Theater. Should be great as this place has the BEST sound out of any venue around. Also going to see Yes at Northerly Island. Can’t wait for this one. Again, another great venue - not a bad seat to be had there. Will be interesting to see how Wakeman’s son is on the keyboards.

  22. James Says:

    The Sadies @schubas jun 20th
The Warlocks and Black Angels @ Logan Square Auditorium also jun 20th

  23. Chris Says:

Has anyone heard of the Lazy River Music Festival coming up at the end of June? I checked out the lineup and it looks AMAZING. I guess there is camping too. I have a bunch of friends coming in from out of town too. Lots of great vibes about this one.

  24. Greg S Says:

Am I the only one stoked 4 Tom Petty in July?

  25. John Says:

I’m surprised no one has mentioned The National, Modest Mouse, and R.E.M. at the UC. Too bad the first two are “only” openers for the third.
