Death Cab for Cutie’s Foggy Chicago Performance
The Pritzker Pavillion at Millenium Park, one of Chicago’s best outdoor venues, was host to another great performance last night (Tuesday). While the weather was a little bleak with the fog rolling in and the chilly air blowing around, the performance was nothing short of stellar. Death Cab opened with “Bixby Canyon Bridge”, the first track off of their new album “Narrow Stairs”. They played a total of 17 songs before returning for a 5 song encore with a great mix of new and old tunes. No matter where you were sitting, in the pavillion or on the lawn, the sound was amazing. It was definitely a great evening all around and a great start to the summers outdoor music scene.

WOW. That’s what I have to say. My day was full of what I thought would end in a disappointing night, but it turned out pretty magical. The setting of fog rolling in thru the city skyscrapers and crawling onto the stage while the band performed created excllent atmosphere. The show itself was reliable and the new stuff sounded great. Had to be fun for them to perform on that stage…

This was my first time at the Pritzker Pavillion in Chicago, and it was nothing less than incredible! Death Cab put on a really great show! As mentioned by Tim, the weather added a “magical” and unique element to this comfortable and relaxing outdoor performance. It was the perfect kick off to my summer…

What an excellent show: Death Cab was nothing less than stellar! I love Pritzker! It’s like having Ravinia in the middle of downtown Chicago! Why don’t more bands get to play there?

DEATH CAB ROCKED!!! Nothing like enjoying a beer (go Miller!) and listening to great music in a great city! Not to mention–the weather was pretty much perfect…

I have yet to fully understand Death Cab but you are all right on, when you say that the Pritzer Pavilion is a great spot to see a show, one of many in Chicago.
Thanks XRT for creating this blog and thank you all for your comments on the foggy atmosphere during the concert! The comments are very interesting and helpful and will be the subject of a future post on Live Exhaust, a blog (http://liveexhaust.blogspot.com/) I would like to invite you to visit and join in on the discussion about the live concert experience.

It was my first visit to Chi-town, I was pleasently surprised to escape the heat of southern Alabama. Having only heard a few song I chose to go to the concert an came away enamoured with the band. As the clouds rolled in so did Death Cab. They not only brought the heat they brought a few sprinkles of rain as well. Being a new fan I was only aware of thier last 2 releases but felt pleasently at home among the community as songs from earlier albums were cherished. And Y’all let me totally recommend this band live!
