Jack attacks…the environment.

Jack Johnson is back in Chicago this Saturday with his eco-friendly tour. We’ve noticed this tour provide Jack with plenty of press including the cover of Rolling Stone, Outside magazine, and awareness through XRT’s own Rock, Roll, Recycle program. It’s amazing to think that one surfer, er man, has come such a long way in such a short time to headline the massive outdoor venue called Alpine Valley Music Theatre…but the people come and fill up the seats to see him perform. Over the years you get to hear plenty of opinions here, and while there are still many who claim that all of Jack’s stuff sounds the same each time around, we here at XRT have always been fans of the sound he brings. Is Jack Johnson up and worthy of being alongside music’s biggest solo artist names, or is he still climbing up that ladder. Either way, we’re not going to tell you what we believe but you should certainly tell us and other XRT listeners….

Jack was SO HOT Saturday night. The weather was beautiful and the sound was great! It was a fun concert! The only negative thing I have to say is that the only recycling bin I saw was next to The Green Village a building. I cannot imagine how many plastic beer cups were tossed that night!

Well I for one recycled my beer. I spent two extra bucks on a beer in a guitar shaped glass not realizing that it held the exact same amount. Stupid fluid dynamics. Anyway, I took the thing home with me because I figured if I didn’t get a souvenir out of the deal it was all for nothing.

I was extremely surprised with the outcome of this show, he just about filled up the entire place. and people were so pumped to see him, which makes it all that more exciting! Although this was my first time seeing him in concert I have also heard that he sounds the same each time. What you hear on his CD is what you get… Either way i really enjoyed his show!
