Play Ball!
With both the Cubs and White Sox leading their divisions, there’s really not much to complain about in Chicago baseball this summer. We’ve even spotted Cubs and Sox fans peacefully coexisting around town. The All Star break this week gives us some free time, which led us to contemplate our ideal concerts at the Friendly Confines and the Cell. There’s something to be said when the stadiums in which we have cheered and jeered are transformed into the ideal venue for our favorite artists. We’re thinking back to the Police at Wrigley last summer and the Rolling Stones 40 Licks Tour on the South Side a few years back. Who would you most love to see in the hallowed home of your favorite team?

I would love to see a “Chicago TripleHeader ” at the Cell.. Poi Dog Pondering opening, followed by Wilco, the the Smashing Pumpkins, C’mon XRT , Make it happen!!

The Pumpkins! How great would it be to see Billy and the gang play Wrigleyfield? Having him play at a venue like that in Chicago would be an awesome way to spend a summer night in Chicago. Hey XRT get on it!

I sort of agree with Dave. If you couldn’t get all three bands of the “Chicago Tripleheader”, XRT should do a Wilco show. But let’s stay away from the southside. The show would be much better at Wrigley. At least you wouldn’t have to worry about being shot.

I think a Pearl Jam show would be phenomenal at Wrigley! Makes sense since Eddie used to live right across the street above the old Wrigleyville Tap!!!!

Does anybody remember in ‘05 when XRT played a local bands adaptation of The Police’s “Roxanne” into “Soxfan”? Who made that, it was awesome!

Hmmmm… This is a hard one, it would be quite an experience to see one of my favorite bands play at Wrigley, home of my favorite sports team EVER! I would have to say, seeing a Jack Johnson/Ben Harper show together would be be stellar… How could anyone possibly pass that up? Lets make it happen!

Jimmy Buffet! Jimmy Buffet! Jimmy Buffet! He is by far one of the best entertainers out there and if anyone has had the pleasure to experience one of his shows then they know how great he is. Every summer i look forward to going to his shows at Alpine Valley. PLEASE give me another Buffet show i cant look forward to that will kill me with the anticipation! People would pay huge for this show and especially if it were at Wrigley…GO CUBBIES!

I’d like to see the Blackhawks play the Red Wings at Wrigley Field. But that would never happen…
