Beyond the City Limits

Last weekend, two great acts hit the Chicagoland area: Dave Matthew’s Band at Alpine Valley, and Smashing Pumpkins at the new Venue in Hammond, Indiana. Despite gas prices these days, tons of listeners made the trek to see these two artists, both of whom are notorious for awesome live performances. We’re already starting to hear some feedback. One XRT listener at Northhalsted Market Days described the Dave show as “The most crowded I’ve ever seen Alpine Valley” and the XRT office is buzzing about the Pumpkins’ unusual encore, complete with kazoos!  Now, we want to hear from those of you who road tripped to neighboring states last weekend… Was it worth the journey?  How does this Dave crowd compare with past shows you have seen? Can Billy Corgan still rock?  Let us know what you thought!

Personally, I am so sick of Dave Matthews and their same old boring show. I do not see how any can see him more than 5 times and not get sick of what the show is like. Even though I did not go see the Pumpkins show out in Indiana, I would much rather go see the Pumpkins play any day of the week rather than Dave and his crew. The Pumpkins’ music has so much more energy and thought and Billy Corgan is pretty much the coolest person to ever come out of Chicago. And you can qoute me on the qoute, end qoute.

I bought 2 tickets to see Chris Isaak at the Arboretum - I was very familiar with some of his songs - but now after seeing him - I am a HUGE fan! What a performer..he’s funny, worked the audience and came out singing Love Me Tender to the ladies - and you could just tell he and his band were having a good time too! It was a beautiful, clear night with a full moon - and a concert like I haven’t seen in years! So enjoyable. Can’t wait til he comes back!!
